The Ukelele
Inspiration behind the Ukelele design came from my trip in Peru. I fell in love with the place especially the vibe of Cusco. I came across the Virgin Mary with Child – a couple of paintings hanging at the hotel where we stayed. It was captivating as I see that the Virgin was breastfeeding. It reminded me of the mother’s instinct to nurture a child. A symbol of unconditional love to a child.
ART BATTLE
Art Battle is a competitive painting event in Canada. Currently being staged in Vancouver, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Kamloops, and Halifax. I saw the live competition in Toronto. The artists compete for 20 minutes and following 2 or 3 preliminary rounds, the remaining contestants who earned the most number of ballots go through the final round. The audience is given an online link to vote and the results are streamed live during the event. It was quite intense and engaging experience. The inspiration for this painting is one of the artists who competed and was painting an owl for this round.
